FISH STOCKING & DISTRIBUTION

  • Note: Eva Lake and the Jade Lakes are not part of the Illecillewaet or Beaver Watersheds, but were included because of their close proximity and years of data

  • We have the following stocking & distribution maps available online:
  • To obtain Province of British Columbia records, go to these websites:

    • Fish Wizard - pisces.env.gov.bc.ca

This site is for the general public, and easy to use. It contains spatially referenced fish distribution and stocking data. Note, that it contains data for 5 years of stocking (i.e., the 5 years prior to when it was stocked).

    • B.C. Fisheries - www.bcfisheries.gov.bc.ca/recreational-hatcheries.html

Provincial stocking data relating to the provincial Fish Culture program. Stocking lists for the last 3 years are available for each region of the province. The Illecillewaet and Beaver watersheds are in the East Kootenay region. Information about provincial hatchery locations and operations is also provided.

    • B.C. Fisheries Inventory Section - www.bcfisheries.gov.bc.ca/fishinv

This page has recently been improved, and is primarily for fisheries inventory contractors, government biologists, and fisheries researchers. From here information such as fish distribution, fish stocking, RIC standards, survey data, maps for digital display of fisheries data, and fish and fish habitat data collection methods can be obtained. The FISS (Fisheries Information Summary System) link provides the stocking, distribution, and most of the mapping data. The Illecillewaet and Beaver River watersheds are in the Columbia Forest District.

Note: (1) the watershed code for the Illecillewaet River watershed is 360

    (2) the watershed code for the Beaver River watershed is 300-885700
             (3) to select a range of data, use a % symbol suffix (i.e. for all the
data in the Columbia system, enter 300%)
