The purpose of the Columbia Mountains Institute of Applied Ecology is to improve ecological management by increasing and sharing knowledge about the ecology of the Columbia Mountains and regional ecosystems.
Our goal is to foster collaboration on, and provide communication and education in support of, scientific research on key ecological themes within the Columbia Mountains and regional ecosystems.

Our conferences are supported by corporate and government donations, as noted in the information for each event. We welcome corporate and in-kind sponsors for our events. Having your name in front of our conference participants is good for your business. Each of our events is held on a cost recovery basis and your sponsorship allows us to reduce registration fees. The Columbia Mountains Institute is administered by Jackie Morris. Jackie's background includes a career as a park naturalist in four western national parks, teaching school, curriculum development, and environmental advocacy. She has been Executive Director for the Columbia Mountains Institute since 1998.
